Question: I have a question about outsourcing and illegal immigration?
The steam engine was actually invented in ancient Greece but an abundance of cheap and dispensable slave labor rendered it unnecessary and technology was halted in it’s tracks for thousands of years, do you think we find ourselves in the same situation today, cheap, tax evading labor from Mexico and outsourcing from china preventing the need for sophisticated automatons in many of Americas sectors? Would be have robots picking our strawberries or washing our dishes today if it were not for cheap labor from Mexico and china?

Perhaps, however, technology is developed to address needs. As long as it is more cost effective to do a given task manually, it will remain so.

Question: Why do Americans complain about outsourcing jobs and then complain about illegal immigrants?
One way or another, American companies have to cut corners to stay competitive with overseas counterparts. If you don’t want the jobs going overseas, then have the overseas people come to the US illegally and pay them squat. The only other option is to slash American wages in have, economic problems solved!

So which should it be?

Cause either way, people are losing money! (and the fat cats in the corporations are getting fatter).

In the past several decades, heedless human activities have resulted in anincreasein planet Earth’s temperature at an unprecedented speed. In the current scenario, taking care of our environment has become more important than ever before. More and more people are showing their interest in “Going Green”, joining hands to fight against the harmful effects global warming has on humans and the environment. People have given thumbs up to the “environmental cleaning products”, thereby replacing traditional chemical cleaning products with safer cleaning alternatives.

What are Environmental Cleaning Products?

Eco friendly products are non-toxic cleaners that are not petroleum based, do not include any harsh chemical like ammonia or phenol, and are completely biodegradable in nature. These green products pose little to no health risk to humans or any threat to the environment and are completely safe to clean your home. With the increasing global demand of environmental cleaning products, more and more green cleaning products are filling the shelves of stores and are nearly available in every product category, from kitchen cleaning products to laundry detergents and softeners, to toilet bowl cleaners, and more.

Why switch to Environmental Cleaning Products?

Traditional cleaning products have harmful chemicals and release Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). VOCs are gases that are emitted from certain solids and liquids, found in cleaning products that have adverse effects on human health and eco system. Most of the cleaning products and solutions that we use daily in our homes contain various types of harmful chemicals and toxins. With the development in the technological world, newer and better green cleaning solutions are being introduced to market that are as effective and sometimes more powerful than other toxic cleaning compounds. These green cleaners come with an additional benefit as they are packaged using recycled materials.

Using home based Environmental Cleaning Products

Many eco friendly cleaning products can be found in your own home, and can be used for various cleaning purposes. One of the most common known environmental cleaning products is vinegar. Not only can it be used on different surfaces but also it acts as a very natural cleaner, leaving behind a pleasant fragrance.

Question: Do you think there is a correlation between customer service outsourcing and negative opinion about Americans?
I am a public relations major with a minor in cultural anthropology.
As we become a more globalized community, the rise of customer service outsourcing to India from American companies are on the rise. The impact of these new relationships can harvest both positive and negative impacts in both societies.
Customer service reps generally deal with answering questions, or rectify situations, dealing with a product or service. In many circumstances, the consumer may find themselves frustrated with an occurance that pertains to the specific product or service, but this may translate as frustration or even hostility to the rep who must deal with them.
For some host countries of outsourcing, these call centers may be the representatives initial/only contact with Americans. I would like to know if any pr departments of US based companies have taken the relevance of this daily interaction to institute any programs to counteract negative opinion that may develop about Americans?

Answer:

Answer by Jiggs
Of course it hurts the reputation of the U.S. when tens of thousands of foreign call center workers do nothing all day but hear us rant and rave. Having said that, the overall impact is very small. Far more damaging to the global reputation of Americans is our disasterious foreign policy. GW Bush is not only the least popular President in american history but one of the most reviled figures in all the world. I recently traveled to Asia and New Zealand on business and spent alot of time apologizing for him.

I think it is a bit preposterous to imagine that the world would need negative interactions with Americans via customer service to develop a distaste for the US. As an American citizen who has traveled abroad, I have to say many citizens of other nations have hated us for some time. They take us to be arrogant, pious, violent, hypocritical, rude, greedy, and over sexed. I’m going to disagree, because I can see those aspects in our culture. Everyone wants to topple the mighty giant (sounds arrogant, but hey I said I was an American).
